For multiple generations candles have been an important part of the culture in the Zapotec town of Teotitlan del Valle. Known as velas de concha, because they were originally made with sea shell molds. Traditionally, these Oaxacan candles were used as gifts for special occasions such as weddings, funerals and baptisms.
Brand details
San Pascual Velas is a fourth-generation, family owned business dedicated to the art of making beeswax candles and preserving this ancestral tradition. They prioritize sustainability and work with local beekeepers to source the beeswax. They only dye using plant- or natural-based dyes.
Candles are carefully hand-poured using 50-year-old molds used to make the wax flowers that adorn the candles.
